Both the town council and a private investment firm joined forces in a collective effort to bring Straubing Ice Stadium up to the standard of a world-class sporting venue. The entire east side of the arena was rebuilt and extended. The renovation was completed in record time - just a few months between two playing seasons. Since long-term quality assurance had to be delivered at a fast working pace, the tiling was completed using products supplied exclusively by PCI Augsburg GmbH. Both an attractive appearance and resistance to mechanical stress caused by high footfall rates, as well as good cleaning properties in hygiene-sensitive areas were crucial. Matte white stoneware tiles were used for the walls of the kitchen and the changing rooms and fine porcelain stoneware tiles for the floors. Elegant anthracite tiles were laid on the floors of the stairwells.
