Renovation of the Iduna Park
in Dortmund
Visible from far away six yellow pylons point to the location of the Signal Iduna Park in Dortmund (named Westfalenstadion until 2005). It is the largest soccer stadium in Germany with over 80,000 seats and home of the well-known soccer club Ballspielverein Borussia 09 e.V. Dortmund. In the course of three stages of extension in around 15 years and in preparation of the soccer championship 2006 the stadium built for the soccer championship 1974 has transformed to an arena with five-star status to UEFA classification. It is a gem among the stadiums and a landmark of Dortmund regarding itself as Germany’s soccer capital. Boxing and concert events are also taking place in the Signal Iduna Park which offers a lot to visitors including the possibility to use rooms for festivities of all kind, conferences and meetings.
